Offshore Analysis & Research Solutions (OARS) was established in 2006 to combine efforts of exceptionally qualified peers motivated towards providing a multi-disciplinary range of services to the geoscience industry.

The OARS team has more than 40 years of combined experience and unparalleled practical knowledge in the field.  The company utilizes a growing pool of contractors who provide services to the global offshore industry. Staff includes a management team and a core group of associates.

OARS is headquartered in Austin, Texas (USA).

Key personnel include:

Matthew Meyer

General Manager – Geoscientist

Mr. Meyer offers 12 years of diversified experience in the marine geoscience and survey industry. He has a strong background in project coordination and management of geophysical, geotechnical, hydrographic and IRM projects. He also has the technical experience to provide geophysical interpretation, geotechnical analysis, and GIS/CAD mapping in support for engineering and construction design, geohazard site and route surveys, sediment dredging, slope stability assessments, and contaminated sediment management. Recent field assignments include client representative, party chief and senior geoscientist positions for various drilling and survey operations, worldwide. As General Manager of OARS, Mr. Meyer oversees the financial and logistical aspects of everyday operations, supporting a team of employees and contractor staff alike. Prior to OARS, he was employed by Williamson & Associates as a senior geophysicist, and by The RETEC Group as an environmental geologist. Since 1999, he has contracted as an independent geophysical and GIS consultant for a variety of oil & gas and telecommunications clientele. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, and a Master of Science degree in Geological Oceanography.

Ryan Thomas

Project Manager – Geoscientist

Mr. Thomas has been involved in the offshore survey and consulting industry supporting oil & gas, telecommunication, and governmental clientele for over 12 years.  With a strong background in marine geology & geophysics, and hydrographic survey, his primary focus is geophysical data processing and interpretation, reporting, and charting.  He has the technical experience to manage and provide support for large scale construction and engineering projects, as well as geohazard, and hydrographic surveys.  Recent assignments include client representative, party chief, and senior geoscientist positions for marine survey operations in Greenland, North Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico.  As a project manager and geoscientist at OARS, Mr. Thomas’ primary responsibilities include data management, CAD mapping and design, and technical document preparation.  Prior to OARS, he worked as a geophysicist, then senior geophysicist, for Williamson & Associates, and as an independent marine geophysical consultant on a variety of projects for survey, oil & gas, and telecommunication clientele worldwide. Mr. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Sciences, a Bachelor of Arts in German, and a Master of Science degree in Marine Geology and Geophysics.

Erick Huchzermeyer

Personnel Manager– Geophysicist

Mr. Huchzermeyer has 12 years of diversified professional and consulting experience in the geoscience industry.  He has a strong background in coastal oceanography, geotechnical analysis, hydrographic survey, and marine geophysical interpretation.  He has the technical experience to provide support to projects including littoral and coastal zone surveys, geological/geophysical site surveys, and 3-D seismic QA/QC.  Prior to OARS, Erick was employed by Williamson & Associates as a marine geophysicist, by NAVO as an oceanographer, and by Western Geophysical as a field geophysicist.  Since 2000, he has also contracted as an independent geophysical consultant for a variety of clients.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Sciences, and a Master of Science degree in Geological Oceanography.

Gina Brewer

CAD/GIS Specalist

Ms. Brewer has 10 years of diversified professional and consulting experience in the offshore industry supporting oil/gas and telecommunications clientele, worldwide.  Most recent assignments include offshore client representative for various cable route surveys, as well as onshore data management including GIS mapping and data processing.  Ms. Brewer has strong organizational and analytical skills, effectively combined with the interpersonal skills to work well with others within all levels of the organization.  She has experience in the development and deployment of data management of policies and processes at both the strategic and practical levels.

Jacob Deming

Senior Surveyor – Multibeam Processor

Jacob Deming has over 10 years of diversified professional experience in the military and offshore survey industry supporting environmental, governmental, oil & gas, and telecommunications clientele. Mr. Deming has a strong background in hydrographic survey standards, online surveying, multibeam acquisition/processing and vessel mobilization. Jacob provides the skills, knowledge, and performance for today’s demanding survey and system integration needs. Extensive training and experience with the latest survey and positioning equipment, software, and processing methods, means he is able to troubleshoot and correct most issues related to mobilized survey systems from setup to final product delivery.  Mr. Deming joined OARS in 2012 in order to expand our abilities to provide clients with complete survey solutions.

Donald Brouillette

Senior Surveyor – Multibeam Processor

Donald Brouillette has over 12 years of diversified professional and consulting experience in the military and offshore industry supporting environmental, governmental, educational, oil & gas, and telecommunications clientele. He has a strong background in project management, survey crew management, hydrographic survey standards, online surveying, multibeam acquisition/processing and vessel mobilization. Prior to OARS, Donald had years of success as an independent hydrographic surveyor/consultant. Prior to his experience as a contractor, Donald was employed by Seafloor Systems, Inc. in Cameron Park, CA in various positions including online surveyor, data processor, Senior Hydrographer and Vice President of Operations. He is pleased to join the OARS team in 2012 to add to their breadth of experience and offer their clients a broader range of services. Previous clients include: NOAA, UTEC, Williamson & Associates, ENTRIX Inc., C&C Technologies, and Environmental data solutions.
